Jingle All the Way

Stressed-out businessman Arnie is teetering on the brink as he desperately tries to get the TurboMan toy he promised his son for Christmas...but forgot to buy. Brash, bruising and bereft of much season cheer, this will appeal to Arnie's fans who like to see him in comedy mode. But Bad Santa it ain't.

Completely unbelievable and right over the top, this is a high-decibel comedy of violence for those who like seeing reindeer punched out and department stores wrecked by rampaging mobs.

At the centre of this maelstrom of mayhem is TurboMan, a toy which stressed-out businessman Arnold Schwarzenegger has promised his son for Christmas but has forgotten to buy.

Right from the beginning, his quest to make amends bears no relation to reality, from the moment the smiling store manager taunts the hordes waiting for the store to open, then allows them to trample him underfoot.

And a running gag about Arnold always falling foul of the same cop fails miserably to work.

If only we could sympathise with anyone here, the film might provide some fun.

Schwarzenegger is all at sea in this, but even so he is better than an alleged actor called Sinbad who plays his chief rival, or Phil Hartman as the smarmy divorce next door who covets Rita Wilson as Arnie's wife.

I was a little disapointed with the ending scene with Arnie and the jet pack, but otherwise it was a decent Christmas movie with several laughs.

I laughed my head off. I loved the bit when he had the Father Christmas'; it was like Matrix Reloaded again.
