A white woman wrongly accuses a black man from a neighbouring town of raping her, so a war veteran and a shopkeeper (Ving Rhames and Jon Voight) intervene to prevent a massive racial conflict in the area. This film is based on true events in Rosewood, Florida in the 1920s and it's a strong account of injustices prevalent in America at the time. Good performances by the leads strengthen this poignant and uncompromising drama shot on location in Florida's treacherous swamplands.
