Set during the Depression, this story tells of an orphan boy (Joseph Ashton) who runs away from his aunt and takes up residence with some Cherokee Indians who teach him wise things about life and the world. One of them is his grandmother (Tantoo Cardinal), the other grandpa (James Cromwell from Babe), who sells moonshine. Unfortunately, the idyll cannot last because the authorities want Little Tree back at school. A charming story, well depicted.
