Cedric the Entertainer

Cedric The Entertainer

Born: April 24 1964
Where: Jefferson City, Missouri, USA

The veteran comedian and actor made his screen breakthrough with Spike Lee's MTV documentary The Original Kings of Comedy.

Since then, he has gone to lend comedy support in movies ranging from Barbershop to Intolerable Cruelty with George Clooney.

"I think my comedy has a natural ability to crossover from the Afro-American community without me intentionally trying to crossover."

He made his TV debut in 1992 with It's Showtime At The Apollo and followed that with The Tonight Show and The Chris Rock Show among others.

He made his big screen debut in the 1998 comedy Ride and appeared in Martin Lawrenson's box office smash Big Momma's House.

Cedric appeared opposite Whoopi Goldberg in Kingdome Come and can be heard as the voice of the bear in Dr Doolittle 2 and Carl the Rhino in Ice Age.

In 2002, he starred opposite Ice Cube in comedy Barbershop and also played Gus Petch in the Cohen Brothers' Intolerable Cruelty.

After the sequel Barbershop 2, he starred alongside Jim Carrey in Lemony Snicket's A Series of Unfortunate Events.

Recent work includes the Get Shorty sequel Be Cool with John Travolta and comedy Man of the House opposite Tommy Lee Jones.
