Irish-born Maureen O'Hara, who packed so much vitality into her Western and swashbuckling roles in the Forties and Fifties, is still going strong. After a gap of nearly 20 years, she returned to films in the 1990s and made this slow-paced but engaging TV movie at the age of 80. The story is simple: hard-pressed hospital nurse Todd (Eric Stoltz) finds that one of his patients is his former latin teacher, Helen (O'Hara). As Helen lives alone, he decides to help her at home when she leaves hospital. But the help goes both ways, as a warm friendship develops between the wise Helen and Todd and his harrassed schoolteacher wife Denise (Trini Alvarado). The learn-to-appreciate-life theme may be cliched, but watch this one for the sheer quality of the performances, particularly that of O'Hara.
