The actress described by Rolling Stone magazine as the "new Bardot" is set for her international breakthrough playing Tinkerbell in PJ Hogan's adaptation of Peter Pan.
She made her big screen debut in 1989 in I Want To Go Home and her first high-profile movie came a year later in Cyrano De Bergerac with Gerard Depardieu.
Extensive TV work followed in Children of the Century and Rembrandt before she hooked up with Francois Ozon for Water Drops on Burning Rocks.
She appeared in the below par My Wife as an Actress before reuniting with Ozon to make the splendid murder mystery 8 Women with Catherine Deneuve and Isabelle Huppert.
Next came Small Cuts opposite Kristin Scott Thomas and more TV work, including a mini series based on the life of Napoleon.
Sagnier's profile was raised at the 2003 Cannes Film Festival with two films in the competition - Ozon's Swimming Pool with Charlotte Rampling and Claude Miller's La Petite Lilie.
