Neil Simon took time off from writing his hard-shelled, soft-centred romantic comedies set in the big city to pen this popular charade in which a fistful of well-known stars have the time of their lives playing famous detectives at large in a sinister country mansion. Although the script is not of Simon's highest quality, you'll briefly enjoy the impersonations of legendary sleuths of fiction and the cinema before boredom sets in. Performances from an all-too-starry cast - including Peter Sellers, Alec Guinness, David Niven, Maggie Smith and Peter Falk - are very hammy and the story is far too silly to entertain for long.
