This macho action bloodbath is held firmly in old-fashioned thriller tradition by director John Irvin, even if the hero is hardly the alienated loner that film noir demands. Arnold Schwarzenegger stars as an ex-FBI agent who is reinstated so that he can go undercover to infiltate a nasty gang that have murdered key witnesses in a prosecution case against a Chicago crimelord. Plenty of bullets fill the screen and Arnie does what he does best - killing with corny one-liners.
