Carlos Carrera

Carrera's international breakthrough came with his searing indictment of the Catholic church - The Crime of Padre Amaro.
He began as an animator at 12 years old and wrote, produced and directed a number of animated-shorts.
His first live-action movie was a documentary short titled Un Vestidito Blanco como la Leche Nido.
He studied filmmaking at the Training Center of Cinematography in Mexico City and went on to make his first feature La Mujer De Benjamin.
It won the Mexican Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay and many prizes in film festivals.
After his second feature film, La Vida Conyugal, Carrera made El Héroe, an animated short winner of the Golden Palm at Cannes Festival.
The feature films Sin Remitente - the official selection at the Venice Film Festival - and Un Embrujo followed before he made The Crime of Father Amaro.
