A flashback-framed psychological thriller which director Alan Rudolph can't resist making too complex, with surges of slow-motion and an ending that is not only loaded with a creel-full of red herrings, but doesn't play fair with what's gone before. By and large, though, this is a slickly produced thriller starring then-married couple Bruce Willis and Demi Moore. Willis is cast as the no-good husband of Glenne Headly, playing Moore's best friend. When he is murdered, the two women weave a web of deceit - and dogged detectives Harvey Keitel and Co must root out the truth. Good performances from all in an offbeat, unsettling film.
