A charmingly natural Western, photographed in glowing Metrocolor by Robert Bronner. It has laughs, action and a lot of attractive characters, not least Shirley MacLaine's copper-haired tomboy heroine and Mickey Shaughnessy's Jumbo McCall. Glenn Ford has the title role as the sheepman fenced in by cattle ranchers but determined to stay put, and `Naked Gun' fans will be surprised to find a young Leslie Nielsen turning up as the treacherous villain. Good stuff this, genial, fresh and likeable, with a little gentle satire on the conventional Western thrown in for good measure.
