Though loved by Americans, the eccentricities of former US First Lady Tess (Shirley MacLaine) make her unbearable to live with. So secret service agent Nicolas Cage can't believe it when she requests him for another year of protection duty after three years of hell in her company. MacLaine is perfect casting as the expert in put-downs who turns every situation to her own advantage. Cage starts stickily, but grows into the part.
