A darkly hilarious, truthful heart-breaker from Kevin Smith, the director of Clerks and Mallrats. Ben Affleck and Jason Lee's happy relationship as comic-book creators is sorely tested when immature Affleck falls for rival cartoonist Joey Lauren Adams. And the fact that she's a lesbian doesn't stop him pursuing her. The performances from the star trio are entertainingly laid-back and the script is packed with winning and inventive dialogue.
