This was the first - and, to date, only - big screen outing for Mulder and Scully and the FBI's X-Files.
It reveals a few long held mysteries, and started up a few more.
Coming after Series Five, it's really a prelude to Series Six and changes everything that the previously sceptical Scully thought about aliens and which Mulder had always said to be true.
And during the course of an investigation into mysterious goings on, the agents are soon on the verge of a vast conspiracy to harness alien power.
Stars David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson both do solid stuff in their roles, and the film works marvellously for fans of the series, maybe less so to those coming to it cold.
But as a stand-alone sci-fi film, it's enjoyable enough.
