A determinedly cute Disney comedy about two moppets who run away with a pet lion in tow after the boy's grandfather has died. Actually it's rather better before the old man has died, but in any case interest in it today for film fans will centre on the appearances of a young Michael Douglas and a nine-year-old Jodie Foster, whose freckled charm easily steals the film. The milk-drinking lion runs her a good second, particularly when refusing to budge from a resting position while the children are in danger of being exterminated by an angry bear. The plot, though, is limp, and both director and writer seem to make mistakes in its handling, with attitudes that are too moralising for comfort.
