Another adaptation of Maxwell Anderson's play about a demonic child, this has the advantage over the 1956 film of being cast considerably shorter and possessing a star supporting cast in Blair Brown, David Carradine and Lynn Redgrave. It still comes out as a bit talky although deftly adapted by George Eckstein and firmly directed by one of the best makers of TV movies, Paul Wendkos. The role of the child, of course, is the best in the story, and little Carrie Wells' expressions of pure malice will run many a chill down nervous spines.
