Some familiar British actors provide the voices in this original, rib-tickling animated adventure, including Jim Broadbent playing a wizard. King Cuthbert's (Peter Egan) subjects all love him and want to emulate his appearance, as he possesses the longest ever beard, which winds itself all through the land. However, Rufus the barber (voiced by Robin Edwards) is effectively out of work and he's angry, planning to cut off the king's beard while his majesty slumbers. Ultimately, of course, he discovers friends matter more than wealth - as well as stumbling onto the secret of the beloved beard. Throw in a powerful musical score and interesting characters - which include two immigrant mice from New York, one voiced by Maureen Lipman, and a fun creature called a Babble (think Furbie in terms of speech repetition) - and you have a fine cartoon for everyone.
