Michel Gondry
Born: May 8 1963
Where: Paris, France
The former music video director is probably best known for his collaborations with screenwriter Charlie Kaufman.
The pair teamed up to make Human Nature with Tim Robbins and Rhys Ifans and the skewed rom-com Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind with Jim Carrey.
Gondry got his start as a director after studying graphics at French art school when he began putting together videos for the band Oui Oui.
This led to collaborations with Bjork, particularly on the award-winning video for Human Behaviour.
Subsequent music video work included the White Stripes' Fell in Love With A Girl and the Stereogramme's Walkie Talkie Man.
He is also an award-winning advertising slot director with work for Levis, Schmirnoff and Gap.
He made his feature debut with Human Nature (after the short La Lettre) and followed that with Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind.
