The real-life second cousin of Che Guevara, the actor is best known for starring in The Motorcycle Diaries - a story of the Cuban revolutionary's trip across South America.

De La Serna plays Albert Granado, travelling companion of Che (Gael Garcia Bernal) who found his revolutionary zeal ignited by the inequalities he saw on the 1960s trip.

A versatile actor in Argentina, De La Serna starred in 1999's Same Love, Same Rain, directed by Juan José Campanella, and Alberto Lecchi's Nuts For Love in 2000.
