An excellent film - Gondry and Kaufmann are a winning team, the script and the imagery is beautiful. Terming the film "directionless" is really missing the point - the film plays with memory and mnemonics, and by mirroring the nature of them, tells a tale that is confused and chaotic, much like the inner worlds of the two central characters. Can't wait till Gondry's next film!

I really genuinely thought this was one of the best films I have ever seen. Yes it's weird and yes it's pretty dark for a romantic comedy but the basic idea of zapping someone's memory IS fairly twisted. The direction commits to this warped storyline and supports it with some beautifully unusual images that will stay in my mind for a long time to come. I would recommend this film to ANYONE!

I thought this was a fantastic film in so many ways. A lot of truths were expressed in really novel ways. Admittedly you had to stick with it in places but it was really worth it.

This film was rubbish - never saw so many people walk out of the cinema - directionless beyond belief!

I very much enjoyed the subject of the film and its basic story. The aim is to say two people who are in love (true love), will always be in love. As a romantic comedy there are a lot of dark, cold, and rainy scenes in this film which is odd. Also, towards the end of the film, the part with the doctor and his secretary was extra. The film started with Joel's story, it should have continued only with that story and finished about 20 minutes earlier than it did. It's worth watching, but only once!
