This much-acclaimed account of the doomed Australia New Zealand Army Corps campaign in World War One turned out to be the passport to Hollywood for its director, Peter Weir. Mel Gibson and Mark Lee play two champion runners, one from the country, the other from the city, who join forces on a countrywide trek to join the Australian Light Horse and fight the Turks at Gallipoli. A powerful and moving war drama.
