This long-serving police vehicle has distinct signs of 'Running down, please pass' stamped on it here. There's good action at either end of the third Mel Gibson/Danny Glover police thriller in the series, but not much of a story in between, to say nothing of a distinctly soft centre and a frantically joky approach which betrays the film's lack of real ideas. Gibson and Glover have done better: the second film, in particular, was fun because they developed their relationship; but the third reveals they have nowhere left to go, although it didn't prevent them making a fourth. Joe Pesci supplies a few good laughs in the film's rapid-fire style. But overall a quick tow to the pound is recommended for this one.
