A comedy about life, liberty and the pursuit of two ex-Presidents. Good idea and great casting - with comedy acting kings Jack Lemmon and James Garner.
Slight shame about the script in which the former opponents become reluctant allies when they are targeted by an arch enemy in the government and have to set off to clear their names.
The jokes about toilets, the homeless, fast-food restaurants and gays are disappointingly naff, giving Lemmon and Garner a hard time to raise laughs.
But there are enough chuckles along the way in a film that never loses its goodwill factor.
The stars' fellow Americans, Dan Aykroyd, John Heard, Wilford Brimley and Lauren Bacall are utterly wasted.
