Following The Road to El Dorado, here's another attempt to film a Jules Verne-style adventure in cartoon form. Despite an abundance of action, the results are pretty much as indifferent as the first time round. It's 1914 and nerdy Milo (voiced by Michael J Fox) is dragooned into an expedition to Icelandic waters to find a lost city disappeared beneath the ocean. The motley band of adventurers, who turn out to be mercenaries after the city's riches, reach Atlantis after a number of perils - chiefly a giant crustacean who guards the entrance to the city - and hunt the lifeforce which seemingly keeps its inhabitants (including, natch, a beautiful, white-haired princess) alive forever. There are no memorable characters or poignant developments in this Saturday morning serial-style entertainment, which does see Leonard Nimoy (as the old king) become the first actor to attempt Vulcan and Atlantean languages in one lifetime.
