Laurence Olivier's towering stage portrayal of Shakespeare's Moor of Venice is sewn together for the screen by director Stuart Burge. The result is a remarkable experience. And, even if Maggie Smith doesn't seem quite right for Desdemona, she's a whole lot better than some previous interpreters of the role.
