One of the better films concerning the Earp brothers and Doc Holliday, this was made by John Sturges, one of Hollywood's best directors of Westerns. His record includes that modern Western Bad Day At Black Rock, The Magnificent Seven and that other film about the Earps, Gunfight At The OK Corral, whose story this film continues. A grim-faced James Garner is convincing as Earp, while Jason Robards is slightly unlikely casting as Holliday. Jon Voight can be seen in one of his earliest screen roles, as a minor gunman.
