A spy comedy-thriller with just a touch of lunacy, with car chases that echo the Mack Sennett era of silent times. James Garner does his bemused act to some effect, but acting honours are ripped away from a strong, mainly British cast by Melina Mercouri, playing with the same exuberant relish she showed when taking the world by storm in Never on Sunday.
