A bit one-paced but touching at the end, this is, under the circumstances, a little miracle of a film from writer/director Amy Jones, made on the tiniest of budgets. Jamie Lee Curtis, working for next to nothing, throws herself whole-heartedly into some torrid love scenes, at the same time creating a movingly believable character who is an entirely true-life mixture of strengths and weaknesses. James Keach - brother of Stacy - is a bit of a bore as her paramour, but Amy Madigan and Matt Clark are useful supports in a slender but slightly offbeat drama that, thanks to the credible central performance, holds on to your interest to the end.
