In this rather deliberately-paced thriller, James Coburn stars as John Cunningham, an enigmatic American hired killer. The film is much a morality play under its cover of murder thriller, and as such fails to be consistenly involving, although certainly there are some good bursts of action. The cast includes Trevor Howard's wife Helen Cherry and the later star-billed Karen Black.
