In a time when Disney seem to be doing tepid follow-ups to their past glories, here is another mainly pointless animated sequel. Quasimodo (Tom Hulce) swings from the rafters of Notre Dame cathedral like an urban Tarzan, singing about love, hoping to find it. And he does - in circus girl Madellaine (Jennifer Love Hewitt), who's then framed for the theft of the townspeople's valuables. She's also blackmailed by the real thief, vain circus manager Sarousch, to get information from Quasi on la Fidele, the great bell at the cathedral, studded with precious jewels. Misunderstandings occur, but love naturally conquers all. Good animation, voices by the likes of Haley Joel Osment and Kevin Kline, and the amusing talking, hopping gargoyles are back, but so are the sentimental forgettable songs. For little ones only.
