Following in the watery wake of Finding Nemo and Shark Tale comes this submarine yarn about orphaned fish Pi finding love out in the big blue.
After his parents are netted by a Boston trawler, the little fella is packed off to live with his Aunt Pearl on an exotic reef.
Here he spots the winsome Cordelia (Rachel Wood) in the middle of a photo shoot for a fashion victim crab and he plucks up the courage to try out a few lines...
She is particularly impressed when the cheeky sprat stands up to Troy (Donal Logue), a bullying shark who has the whole reef living in fear.
If Pi is to win the fair Cordelia's fin then he has to fund a way of dealing with her rival suitor.
This is a straightforward tale simply told and none the worse for it.
It doesn't attempt any of the clever gags that sail over youngsters' heads in the direction of their knowing mums and dads.
Instead, it relies on a basic story that will not tax young minds and peoples the narratives with colourful characters.
There's the warlike turtle who gives Pi a crash course in streetfighting on the decks of a sunken pirate ship and Troy's cowardly sidekicks who find they've bitten off more than they can chew.
It's not revolutionary...but unlike many CGI-laden movies it knows its limits and works well within them.
