John Travolta's second appearance as dancer Tony Manero is, under Sylvester Stallone's direction, actually better than his first in 'Saturday Night Fever' - though not all of this sequel matches up to the original so well. Manero's now a dance instructor in Manhattan but, at nighttime, like Dustin Hoffman in 'Tootsie', he fails auditions for Broadway shows. The Bee Gees' driving music and the sweat gland-busting dances should get teenagers clapping everywhere. Travolta is first-rate and Cynthia Rhodes as his long-suffering girl (doing all her own singing and dancing as well as proving a definite personality) also has lots of talent. Keep your eyes peeled if you want to spot a fleeting guest appearance by director Stallone.
