Chevy Chase

"Good evening, I'm Chevy Chase and you're not." With those words, a star was born in 1975.

Originally hired by Saturday Night Live as a writer, Chevy ended up on camera in a weekly news segment and became the show's first break-out star.

He began his career in comedy as a writer and performer for Channel One, a New York underground revue that satirised television. Channel One later became the basis for the film The Groove Tube.

His first starring role was in the comedy-thriller Foul Play, with Goldie Hawn.

He scored hits with Caddyshack, Fletch and the Vacation and National Lampoon movies.

In 1992, Harvard¿s Hasty Pudding Theatricals, the US' oldest undergraduate dramatic group, named Chevy its Man of the Year.

Chevy prefers to do family-oriented movies and has turned down roles in several films including the lead in American Beauty.

Chevy resides in New York with his wife, Jayni, and their three daughters.
