This social satire leans heavily on the individual talents of stars Walter Matthau and Robin Williams for its impact. They're two disparate characters who, through unforeseen circumstances, find themselves thrown together as potential targets of a crazed hit-man. It's thinly scripted but the stars put in overtime to make it work. Matthau displays masterly comic timing and Williams, although he can't make his character credible, does have a hilarious scene on the phone where he challenges the gangster to come down from New York City and bump him off.
