A fascinating and revealing, if finally unsatisfying look at the work of comedienne Lily Tomlin over a 20-month period, as she and her writing partner Jane Wagner prepare the material and presentation for one of her greatest Broadway successes. The creative process is rather fitfully covered, and there is little insight into the private lives of the partners as they work under intense pressure to produce a quality show. Fans of the star will enjoy it though, especially in her presentation of differing versions of the same routine. Directed by Nick Broomfield and Joan Churchill.
