This silly romantic thriller has Victoria Principal as the (of course) beautiful 35-year-old mayor opposing developers who have their beady eyes on a charming old part of her town. There is also increasing alarm in the city over a series of murders. Naturally, Principal becomes the victim of blackmail for a minor indiscretion with a handsome stranger. But life is full of coincidences and handsome stranger turns up again in the form of FBI agent Steve Warner (Ted Wass), sent to investigate the killings. Alas, the thriller and romance elements never gel to a credible whole and Principal and Wass fail to convince in their roles. A shame really, as the cast includes lots of well-respected actors: Ralph Waite as one of the developers, Hector Elizondo as the mayor's assistant and Elaine Stritch as her mother among them.
