A flawed but interesting film about the rights of children as seen through the eyes of the two sons of a single mum, who rebel when her latest sleazy boyfriend moves in. Peter Weller, as the louse of a boyfriend, and Teri Garr, as the mother blinded by love to the chaos and drama around her, are both excellent, and the film only lets itself down in its final 30 minutes that degenerate into a Death Wish-style chase. Two of the producers were also behind Soap, Benson and The Golden Girls on TV. Sadly their winning touch ended here and the film barely received a theatrical release and soon dropped out of sight.
