Telly Savalas played tough-talking, steel-hard, sartorially splendid, bullet-domed, lollipop-chewing New York detective Theo Kojak to rating-topping success in the mid-Seventies. This strongly cast later TV movie was one of the last occasions on which the grinning Greek-American wore the badge of office. Now elevated to inspector, Kojak is involved in the case of murder linked to a department-store dynasty. At times Kojak now seems a bit too grandfatherly, but Savalas and the gritty location shots of New York City are a welcome reminder of the Kojak series' glory days. STAR SPOT: Oscar-winning Marcia Gay Harden is in a strong supporting cast.
