Maura Tierney

Best known as nurse Abbey Lockheart in the TV series ER, Maura Tierney has also carved out a successful film career for herself.

After a short stint on the TV series The Van Dyke Show in 1988, Maura was cast in her feature debut, Dead Women in Lingerie.

Her film lead was in Liar, Liar, opposite Jim Carrey.

Maura was spotted by producers and was cast opposite John Travolta in Primary Colors, and then opposite Ben Affleck in Forces of Nature.

In 1999 Maura decided to take a look at film from behind the camera. She Executive produced and starred in the film Oxygen just before she was cast in her explosively exciting role in ER.

More recently Maura took a supporting role in Insomnia, the Christopher Nolan-directed American remake of the 1997 Norwegian crime thriller.
