Teen suicides were big news in America when this film came out. But it wastes the opportunity to tackle a serious subject head-on. Bland is the word that comes to mind. Keanu Reeves, who has since risen to the forefront of Hollywood's leading actors with Speed and the Bill and Ted comedies, is the best friend of a teen suicide victim. His coming to grips with his sense of grief is the one point of interest in the film. It took three writers to concoct this thin material - a clear case of too many cooks spoiling the broth. Good cast, good opportunity, good-for-nothing movie: shame.
