Rags to riches is the name of the game in this TV movie starring Lindsay Wagner in the title role of a Texas woman who experiences life on the bottom rung - poverty, an illegitimate son - and claws her way up the social ladder to marry a wealthy newspaper publisher. Naturally she tries to find her son and becomes obsessed with his future. Wagner and Dabney Coleman as the newspaper magnate are fine but there's nothing extraordinary about this tale. Main reason for watching is the appearance of a pre-stardom Michelle Pfeiffer in a support role.
