Arthur Miller's powerful play has lost none of its impact over the years and this excellent TV movie more than does it justice. Dustin Hoffman stars as Willy Loman, reprising the role for which he garnered such acclaim on Broadway. Kate Reid plays his wife and John Malkovich his son Biff. It's the story of a family slowly being destroyed by Willy's disillusion and failed dreams of success. Director Volker Schlöndorff wisely doesn't try to disguise the theatrical origins here and creates an effectively stylised look to the film. Well-made, well thought out and very well acted. Highly recommended.
