Michael Keaton is at the centre of a bad case of culture clash when a Japanese company re-opens a car plant in Pennsylvania and runs it the way they would back home. Oddly, it's the American factory workers who come off worse here, portrayed largerly as a bunch of lazy and inefficient backsliders. The Japanese work ethic means hard work and pride in their job. If all this sounds a little serious, don't be alarmed - it's a fast-moving comedy that provides lighter fare that its plot would imply. Keaton, in zany mood, dominates, but Gedde Watanabe, as the young Japanese executive in charge of the plant, is also very good.
