Columbia certainly pulled out a plum with this musical remake of their own comedy success of a dozen years earlier. A bright, cheerful frolic full of vitality, the film is dominated by Janet Leigh - always surprisingly good when given the chance - and Betty Garrett (even better) as singing sisters. The comedy is joyously funny, the dancing scintillating and the singing delightful. All this and a singing Jack Lemmon too: no wonder this one leaves a warm glow behind.
