What are contemporary Americans afraid of? Forget Freddie - it's the Germans and Americans if this tame, teenage gang movie is to be believed. It paints an America laid waste by foreign investors (! ) where orphaned and abandoned children live in camps. They win back their homeland through a fascistic army of roller-skating teenagers. It's all carefully tailored to the American teen market. Anti-racist and anti-drugs message is hammered home while the sex and violence seems to have been computer-controlled not to exceed the American PG-13 certificate. Corey Haim does a good job of holding the picture centre together; Patricia Arquette brings interesting qualities to the screen, and the pair have a good chemistry that should appeal to young viewers.
