This drama about a dysfunctional family holds together about as well as the family on which it focuses. There are the usual tensions and tragedies one would expect in this kind of film, but the situations and the characters' reactions to them don't ring true. A solid cast that includes Peter Coyote as the father, Vincent D'Onofrio as his rebellious eldest son, Peter Berg, Jennifer Jason Leigh and ER's Noah Wyle do what they can, but the script and editing conspire to reduce the story to a series of awkward moments.
