A sharp, entertaining satire from Robert Altman. Altman's wandering style can annoy, but if you enjoy a 'Video Diary' type of approach then this will appeal, as his camera tracks a series of hilarious social and domestic crises at a wedding that joins old and new money. As in The Player, Altman brings in a huge cast of famous faces: apart from Desi Arnaz Jr (as the bridegroom), Carol Burnett (as the bride's mother) and Geraldine Chaplin (as the wedding coordinator), participants include Mia Farrow, Nina van Pallandt (the female half of Nina and Frederick), Lillian Gish, Vittorio Gassman, Viveca Lindfors, Lauren Hutton, Dennis Franz (before his Hill Street Blues and NYPD Blue fame) and, way down the cast, Pam Dawber who played Mindy to Robin Williams' Mork in the TV series.
