James Coburn plays an ageing rodeo rider who goes home to the wife he has neglected and the son he hardly knows in this thoughtful drama written and directed by character actor Steve Ihnat. The film looks good but is a little low-key and only really comes alive during the rodeo scenes. Coburn plays his part well, although he seems too genial to be the thoughtless person he is playing. Lois Nettleton gives excellent support as his wife and Slim Pickens is also good as our hero's best friend.
