The successful stand-up comedian and TV star has also made his mark on the big screen.
His feature debut was as Dave from Eejit Records in Alan Parker's Commitments and now he is able to take the lead - as Madigan in Spike Milligan's Puckoon.
The youngest winner of the Perrier comedy award, his One Night Stand With Sean Hughes played in London, Los Angeles and Melbourne.
In 1992, he wrote and starred in the Channel 4 sitcom Sean's Show.
Other TV credits include Murder Most Horrid and Gormengast and he is also team captain on pop quiz show Never Mind The Buzzcocks.
After the Commitments, his big screen work included Snakes & Ladders, The Butcher Boy and Fast Food.
Recent work includes the lead role in Terence Young's adaptation of Puckoon with Elliot Gould and Richard Attenborough.
