A disappointingly heavy-handed cross between The Best of Times and It's a Wonderful Life. This feelgood fantasy has a terrific basic idea, and it's just a shame that a director with a lighter touch than James Orr wasn't along to make us all cheer for its hero. That's James Belushi, given a chance to turn his life around by angel (Michael Caine) and marry the prom queen (René Russo) he always wanted. The film's cutest notion is that Belushi finds he likes life the way it was - and attempts to get it back. Good cast also includes Linda Hamilton, Jon Lovitz, Jay O Sanders and Courteney Cox.
